Global Recycling Day is March 18, 2024: Ice Mountain® 100% Natural Spring Water Donates $10,000 to Maintain, Enhance Morton Township’s Recycling Center and Services

Company continues long history of promoting and supporting material recycling and reuse as way to conserve natural resources, prevent litter, protect waterways and communities.

STANWOOD, Michigan – As Global Recycling Day 2024 approaches on March 18, we recognize the indispensable role local recycling operations play in advancing material recovery for further use. Ice Mountain® 100% Natural Spring Water today announced a donation of $10,000 to Morton Township’s recycling center. This marks the 13th year Ice Mountain has renewed its support for the township’s work to provide recycling expertise, services, and facilities that serve the township’s residents and businesses.

“Ice Mountain is a fundamental partner in our recycling program,” said Mark Klumpp, Morton Township Supervisor. “Their donations have been the major catalyst in getting our program to the level it is at today. We appreciate Ice Mountain’s continued support of the local community and of recycling in Morton Township.”

The donation will provide the township’s nearly 3,000 households and properties with the resources they need to dispose of and repurpose materials like cardboard and plastics. The Morton Township Recycling Center also accepts discarded mail, office paper, metal cans and foil, plastic bags, glass, and other items.

The Morton Township Recycling Centers serves more than 250 customers every week. More than 90 tons of material are recycled every year.

“The recycling resources provided by Morton Township are vitally important to the people who live and work in this area and who want to make a difference by recycling the materials that stack up in homes and businesses, but are valuable resources for their next purpose,” said Arlene Anderson-Vincent, Ice Mountain Senior Natural Resource Manager. “Every year, we look forward to sharing our support to help Morton Township serve its community with easy, convenient, and recycling amenities.”

Since the recycling center opened in 2009, services have continually improved. In early 2023, the township purchased its own cardboard compactor that helps them sell baled cardboard instead of paying for a recycling dumpster which cuts down on the center’s cost and provides a revenue-generating product.

With this year’s contribution, the Ice Mountain® Brand has contributed $125,000 to the program over the past 13 years.
