Purpose & Principles

Creating a Renewable World for Communities Today and Tomorrow

BlueTriton, through its trusted brands, has a long history of delivering safe, quality drinking water, with its oldest brand, Poland Springs® first appearing more than 175 years ago. Our ever-evolving products supply people with reliable hydration, especially in times when safe water isn’t readily available. We are proud to be a dependable source of life-sustaining beverages during natural disasters, water supply crises, and emergency response.

At its core, BlueTriton Brands is an organization of people who live and work in communities across the U.S. and Canada. We care deeply for our local communities, and we strive to run a successful business while always being good neighbors. Our shared mission is to do well as a business and to do good for our communities and planet - today and tomorrow.

BlueTriton’s business is undeniably connected to people and the planet. That is why we seek to protect people and the planet by sustainably providing products, which meet people’s need for fresh water throughout North America. Water connects everything on this planet and gives us life. At BlueTriton Brands, water is our life's work now and for future generations.

While we remain steadfast in our commitment to water stewardship, we must rise to the challenge and recognize that our product is not only water; it is also the vessel it is bottled in and the impact of our value chain.

With many known and unknown challenges ahead, BlueTriton is committed to contributing to the wellbeing of individuals, communities, and our planet. We plan to deliver on that commitment by staying true to our guiding principles; We are locally committed and thoughtfully sourced.

Principle 1: Locally Committed

The success of local communities, the environment, and business are interconnected and becomes long-lasting when we work together to build resilient systems. By providing local jobs, investments, resources, and stewardship, BlueTriton deliberately links its business and stewardship efforts with local communities and ecosystems across the U.S. and Canada.

Principle 2: Informed by Science

Decisions impacting people and the environment are best made when diverse perspectives, scientific facts and independent studies are part of the decision-making process. BlueTriton works with communities to coordinate and share locally relevant scientific facts and studies so everyone, including ourselves, can make better decisions on water, waste, and other topics impacting people and the planet.

Principle 3: Resilient Local Environments

Earth’s water cycle naturally regenerates water resources, and its stability is vital for long-term water quality and availability for the life it sustains. BlueTriton promotes land conservation, education, and coordinated stewardship across wetlands and watersheds which are key to the stability of the North American water cycle.

Principle 4: Empower Thriving Communities

Thriving communities are built on steady and reliable access to life’s necessities, including safe drinking water. We recognize access to safe drinking water is not always equitable and we stand for reliable and resilient water access. By donating drinking water, BlueTriton provides a safety net for communities when other water sources are unavailable due to disaster, infrastructure issues, or other issues. Additionally, BlueTriton supports non-profit organizations and local communities through donations and knowledge sharing to improve water infrastructure and access beyond bottled water because we believe people should have a choice in the water they drink, and that requires multiple, reliable ways to access safe drinking water.

Principle 5: Be a Responsible Business

We believe how we do something is as important as the result. How a business operates defines future outcomes and its ability to meet the evolving needs of people and planet. BlueTriton voluntarily holds itself to higher standards of business conduct, including product quality, data transparency, verification of sustainable business practices, and certification of results.

Principle 6: Remove Waste

Waste is both an unproductive use of a resource and a strain on communities and the environment. BlueTriton eliminates wasteful practices at every opportunity, remediating historical waste through community clean up events, designing our value chain for less waste, and developing low-waste ways to make and distribute products in our operations.

Principle 7: Circular Design

Systems designed to recover and reuse resources positively impact communities and the environment by reducing emissions, virgin material extraction, and waste generation. BlueTriton embraces circularity by partnering with industry leaders to invest in recycling infrastructure, innovating new material recovery programs, adding recycled and renewable materials to our products, and designing our products and processes to keep valuable materials in circulation through reuse and recycling.

Principle 8: Net Positive

At its core, a business provides products and services, yet its activities more broadly affect people and the planet. BlueTriton owns the impacts of its business and works diligently to do more good and to reduce and remediate negative consequences as we move towards a more regenerative business and a better world.
