Watersheds We Help Protect

Northeast

BlueTriton has been a proud community partner, environmental steward and employer in Maine for over 175 years. We source from 10 spring sites in the region that support four bottling facilities. Our operations and contributions in the state have allowed for $100 million in capital investment and infrastructure improvements since 2021.

We are committed to responsibly sourcing and helping conserve Maine’s water resources for the long-term sustainability for human and ecological needs. As a leader in water stewardship, we leverage science, stakeholder input and an understanding of site in our approach to source protection and manage for long-term sustainability. Six thousand acres of land are conserved to ensure the health and sustainability of the watersheds where Poland Springs operates.

  • Poland Spring® partners with local school district to sponsor Brookie Buddies program

Each year fifth graders at the Poland Community School in Poland, Maine spend a morning releasing more than 200 brook trout fingerlings into nearby Waterhouse Brook. The release is part of the Poland Spring® Brookie Buddies program, helping to foster the next generation of environmental stewards. More than 60 fifth grade students begin caring for the trout eggs, provided by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, in January and raise the fingerlings in their classroom aquarium until release day. Students completed their care by releasing the inch-long trout into a state-approved body of water in the local watershed. The Poland Spring® Brookie Buddies: Water, Fish and ME program, started in 2007, was modeled after similar programs developed by Trout Unlimited. Since then, thousands of Maine students have enjoyed participating in this hands-on environmental education experience.
