Arrowhead® 100% Mountain Spring Water and BlueTriton Brands honored with philanthropic award for providing emergency drinking water to rural communities in Colorado

Arrowhead® 100% Mountain Spring Water and BlueTriton Brands have been honored with the Friend of Rural Water award by the Colorado Rural Water Association for their efforts in donating more than 125,000 bottles of drinking water to multiple rural communities in Colorado after their water systems failed.

The water distribution system in Empire, Colorado couldn’t produce enough water to meet system demands forcing residents and business owners to find alternative options for their drinking water in 2022. The town informed residents that a possible leak in the distribution system along with seasonally low flow of the town’s source water caused the problem. Residents needed to fill buckets with water to bring home.

To help the Empire, Colorado community, BlueTriton Brands provided nearly 25,200 bottles of water.

Also in 2022, residents of Lawson Village in Idaho Springs, Colorado, faced significant challenges when an upper water system failed, leaving half of the residents without water for 100 days. During this time, residents had to carry buckets of water from a spigot across a county road to meet their water needs. Despite a temporary solution being installed months later, the water system continued to be unreliable, and residents were often left with little to no water. BlueTriton donated 7,200 bottles of water to residents of Lawson Village.

“The quick and generous response from BlueTriton and Colorado Rural Water Association (CRWA) was critical to the health and well-being of residents at Lawson Village,” said Ellen K. Giarratana, former Litigation Director, Colorado Center on Law and Policy. “Within 24 hours of receiving our request for donations, BlueTriton donated bottled water and CRWA arranged for the water to be delivered to Lawson Village.”

Water system failures also happened in the town of Boone in 2022 and at Trail West Village in Buena Vista, Colorado in 2024.

In Boone, residents were asked not to drink the water and instead purchase bottled water. BlueTriton Brands provided nearly 86,400 bottles of water for the area at no cost to residents.

“We didn’t hesitate to assist these communities where we live and work,” said BlueTriton Brands Natural Resource Spring Specialist Jeremy Allenbaugh. “At BlueTriton, we believe in providing healthy hydration and providing people with clean and healthy drinking water.”

The award presentation was held at the Colorado Rural Water Association’s annual conference awards banquet ceremony in Loveland, Colorado earlier this year. The first-time award honors Arrowhead® and BlueTriton Brands.
