Ozarka® Natural Spring Water team plants 300,000 trees in Texas to enhance continued sustainability practices
On the eastern side of Texas lies 8,614 acres that the Ozarka® Natural Spring Water Brand team manages. Ongoing land and forestry practices continue to improve forest health, increase wildlife habitat, and help to conserve water quality in Wood and Walker Counties.
Over the past three years, Ozarka® has contributed to 300 acres of reforestation with more than 300,000 seedlings planted.
BlueTriton Brands Senior Natural Resource Manager Trey Mixon said, “BlueTriton Brands and Ozarka® are building a better water company by supporting healthy hydration for everyone, everywhere. We are highly engaged in stewardship, conservation, and sustainability of our natural resources every day.”
During the seedlings growing process, the Ozarka® team utilizes natural methods without herbicides or pesticides to protect water quality. Steady rains in Texas last year helped the seedlings get a good jump start.
Pine trees can reach full maturity in 25 to 30 years. Some types of pine trees can grow up to 150 feet tall. There are countless environmental benefits to planting trees. Trees purify the air, provide habitat for various species of wildlife, filter stormwater runoff by protecting waterways, and absorb carbon dioxide.
The team will continue to replant trees as areas are thinned and harvested during the early spring or late fall months.
