BlueTriton Brands and Poland Spring® support purchase of bulletproof vests for City of Lewiston, Maine after deadly shooting
The mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine was a devastating event that deeply affected area communities and Poland Spring® employees on October 25, 2023. In response, BlueTriton Brands and Poland Spring® are proud to have supported the City of Lewiston on the purchase of nearly 140 new ballistic vests for first responders and fire departments in six Maine communities.
The mass shooting claimed the lives of 18 people and wounded others, including Poland Spring® employee, Ben Dyer who works in the company’s Poland bottling facility.
“Our thoughts remain with the families of the victims and the survivors of the Lewiston tragedy, including Poland Spring® team member, Ben Dyer, who exemplifies resilience as he continues his recovery,” Joey Bergstein, CEO of BlueTriton Brands. “The safety of our communities and the brave first responders who protect them is paramount to us.”
With the $150,000 donation, fire departments in Androscoggin County purchased the following bulletproof vests:
Lewiston: 75
Auburn: 21
Lisbon: 10
Poland: 10
Durham: 10
Turner: 10

The donation was made in addition to a $600,000 contribution made last year by BlueTriton Brands to the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Relief Fund to support local businesses impacted by the shooting.
