Texas students can now apply to Don’t mess with Texas® Scholarship Contest sponsored by Ozarka® 100% Natural Spring Water

For 2024, Ozarka® 100% Natural Spring Water is sponsoring the annual Don’t mess with Texas® Scholarship Contest.

All Texas high school seniors currently attending public, private or home school, and planning to attend an accredited college, university, or trade school in the fall 2024 semester are eligible.

This year, $10,000 will be awarded to two seniors who will be selected based on proven results in leading projects or efforts which are focused on educating communities about the importance of keeping the state and roadways clean and litter-free.

Students can now apply online. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. (CDT) on April 2, 2024.

$9,000 in scholarships were awarded to three Texas high school seniors in 2023. The Ozarka® Brand was a sponsor. Past winners included:

Ramon Rodriguez, from Presidio, Texas who was awarded a $5,000 college scholarship. He started the recycling uplift program in his town and founded Project Homeleaf which recycled and reduced the number of materials that go to the landfill.

Neddah Abdella from Brownsville, Texas was awarded a $2,000 college scholarship. Neddah organized and participated in local clean-up days, educated the public about the Don’t mess with Texas litter prevention program, and engaged in social media campaigns to spread the anti-litter message. She also participated in graffiti removal events and roadside trash and debris clean-up days.

Hayden Foltz from Greenville, Texas was awarded a $2,000 college scholarship. As President of the National Beta Club, Hayden developed a solution to the trash around campus. He developed the Trashy Tuesdays campaign which invited groups of volunteers to meet after school at least twice a month to clean up many areas around campus.
